"New Dance" is an open improvisation technique based on presence and authenticity, combining body expression with group communication. The dancers compose with form, space, rhythm. An instant composition is something magical, because you can feel in real time what’s going on among the performers, you can see the connections and the communication, how cooperation and the courage for radical actions are coming together. Approach The New Dance technique is based on organic movement principles. The focus is on lightness, strength and dynamic as well as on simplicity and the orientation in time and space. The floor work is also an important part of the training. The group shows its work every now and then in studio performances.
Goals - differentiate the body awareness, become fluid and to be more reactive - develop fluid strength, flexibility in muscles and joints - develop autonomy in the (dance) relationship with others - open to the present moment, making spontaneous decisions in individual and collective situations and composing in the moment
Reference New Dance has been developed in the seventies under the influence of different martial arts that focus on presence, alertness and energy. The interest was to look at the dancers again more as a unity of body, mind and soul.
