Cocooning / Cocoon Massage

Cocooning (or Cocoon-Massage) is a body work practiced on a floor mat and in comfortable clothes. As in WATSU, the receiver closes his (her) eyes and surrenders to the arms of the giver, who cradles him, massages him and envelops gently his body.
She invites the receiver to turn from one position to another in slow motion, giving her the feeling of being in a cocoon. Slow full-body movements, passive stretching, joint rotation and deep connective tissue work create a strong mind-body connection. Focus on breathing, alternating dynamic and stillness, and energetic touch lead to a deep relaxation.

APPROACH
This method, developed by myself, combines different massage styles and techniques (Esalen Massage, WATSU, Tantsu, Contact Improvisation) in a flowing style that meets the specific needs of each patient. Its philosophy is based on listening and presence; thus, the practitioner aims to reach the whole person through relaxation.

GOALS
Cocooning is very beneficial to relieve stress and nervousity. The sense of security felt by the receiver leads to relaxation and letting go. It releases physical and mental pain accumulated in everyday life. It also regulates the circulation of physiological fluids and enables rapid elimination of toxins. It releases muscular tension and brings a regain of vitality. Cocooning helps to regulate breathing and to feel cared and cradled like a baby in its mother's arms.

Duration: about 90 minutes plus an exchange about your wishes and state before and after the massage

REFERENCE: I am a certified „Esalen Massage therapist" as well as WATSU®/WaterShiatsu, "Waterdance®" practitioner (aquatic bodywork) since 2010. Basic training in Anatomie, Physiologie, Pathologie, as well as some Shiatsu basics. Trained in many self development methods.  I am also using my knowledge of contact improvisation to mobilize the body as a whole.
